Competition Details

Teams will be composed of 1-3 Freshmen SMU Students who will pitch an equity, long or short. For the first round, teams will submit a PowerPoint presentation. Pitches are evaluated based on creativity, qualitative analysis, and presentation. First round submissions will be due March 31st via email to contact@blvdinvestmentgroup.org.

Finalist teams will receive feedback on their pitches and present to a panel of industry professionals on April 11th, 2025.

Teams are encouraged to attend our upcoming info session on March 4th in ECOX 0310 to learn more about the pitch competition and ask any further questions.


Total cash prize of $3,000, allocated between the top placing teams.

Competition Rules


PowerPoints should not exceed 15 slides and should not take longer than 10 minutes to present. The pitch deck should describe the research process of your team as well as your team’s investment thesis. In addition to your submission, please submit any excel backup utilized to create your materials. This pitch does not necessarily require any quantitative analysis.

Stocks must be companies with market capitalizations over $250 million as of February 28, 2025. Do not pitch any ETFs, ETNs, Closed-End Funds, or other exchange-traded securities, including derivatives and currencies. Finally, shares must trade on a US stock exchange.

Please be sure to use publicly available information only. Do not choose a company where you have a relationship or access to any non-public information. Please do not reach out to any individuals or companies while conducting your work on this project. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.

All first round submissions are due at 10:00 AM CST on March 31st, 2025. No late submissions will be accepted. To submit, please email all required materials to contact@blvdinvestmentgroup.org, only one submission per team is required. Please also confirm your registration to the form below.

Successful submissions will:

  • Clearly state the stock being pitched, whether the team is long or short, and outline the investment horizon

  • Address risks and catalysts of the investment

  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the industry and business that is being pitched

  • Be neatly formatted with sources cited
